Iraq pays February salaries of Kurdistan Region’s civil servants: Ministry

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region – Iraq’s finance ministry on Monday announced that it had begun sending the Kurdistan Region’s civil servants’ salaries for the month of February to the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), in compliance with a recent ruling by a top federal court

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region – As this year’s Newroz coincides with the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, Duhok has urged people to keep their celebrations of the Kurdish new year small.

 

Hasan Fatah, spokesperson for Duhok’s directorate of culture and arts, told Rudaw that they will light bonfires on the summits of Kelya Shada, Kelya Fareni, and Zawa Mountain around the city in the evening of March 20, but he asked people to join in the event by lighting a lantern in their homes.

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region – The Kurdish Diaspora Center offers free online courses for people around the world wanting to learn the Sorani, Badini, or Kurmanji dialects of Kurdish language. 

The center, which describes itself as a politically and religiously neutral organization, follows the curriculum set by the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and graduates are granted certificates by the Kurdish government’s education ministry after six years of study. Nearly 500 students around the world are currently studying at the center.
